Do You Miss The Old Studio?

So do we!! If you appreciated the aesthetic, much of it (as well as similar mid to late 20th century, psychedelic home decor and clothing) is for sale!

With that being said, Mama Earth Massage no longer has a regular indoor massage studio, instead focusing on pop up appearances and house call appointments. Summer weather is almost here! – We’re getting everything ready so you can get a massage or train outdoors in the Logan Square / Humboldt Park / 606 Area!

Mama Earth Massage: Read Reviews and Book Classes on ClassPass Our ClassPass offerings have been purposely limited due to the new exclusive focus on mobile massage and training. We will be speaking with ClassPass to customize locations for massage or training sessions on that platform. Again, availability will be opening up soon – check back often and follow us on social media!

Massage Therapy

Book the correct type and duration. This ensures your goals will be met. Read up on different types of massage and recommended session length to achieve your goals. Some quick rules of thumb to follow are:

  • 30 minute massage: Targeted massage (upper or lower body) or Assisted Stretching. 30 minutes is not recommended for a full body massage. 30 minutes can accommodate assisted stretching of the major muscle groups or a focused massage.
  • 45 minute massage: Targeted Massage. Full Body Swedish (Relaxation) Massage. 45 minutes is the perfect time for a non-focused, full body, Swedish (relaxation) massage with no expectations of pain relief. 45 minutes can also offer a more in-depth, focused massage for therapeutic benefit or pain relief.
  • 60 minute massage: Targeted Massage. Full Body Massage. Therapeutic Stretching. 60 minutes can include assisted stretches employing neuromuscular techniques that assist with range of motion improvement and injury prevention. 60 minutes allows for a full-body massage with some deep tissue work addressing muscle tension or providing pain relief. If choosing 60 minutes for a deep tissue, full body session, expect that an area will be left out – usually the arms (unless otherwise specified). 60 minutes is also good for a targeted session to relieve pain from a chronic condition such as sciatica or sciatica-like pain, ankylosing spondylitis, multiple sclerosis, etc..
  • 75 minute massage: Deep Tissue Full Body Massage. 75 minutes allows for a deep tissue, full-body massage addressing muscle tension or providing pain relief while still addressing the feet, glutes, legs, back, arms, pecs, and neck. In my opinion, this is the most natural time massage. You will feel energized, relaxed, stretched,
  • 90 minute massage: Full body massage. All of the benefits of 75 minutes and 15 minutes more on top of that. A good choice if you are experiencing back pain (both upper and lower back pain), also if you want full attention paid to your arms, feet, and glutes along with the major muscle groups.
  • 2 Hour (120 minute) massage: Full body massage. The choice if you are experiencing back pain (both upper and lower back pain) or want to fall asleep. Full attention is paid to the scalp, face, hands, and feet.
